Below are some questions to help you reflect on the sermon:

  1. We often feel the pressure to have a "blockbuster" testimony to prove God loves us. Where in your life do you feel the most pressure to be "great" instead of just trusting God with your ordinary, small days?

  2. Read 1 Kings 17:8-24. God sent Elijah to Zarephath, Jezebel's Gentile town. Why is it so hard for us to believe that God can provide for us in the most unlikely, difficult, or uncomfortable places?

  3. Read Luke 4: 4-30. Jesus made the religious insiders furious by pointing out that God bypassed all the widows in Israel to save a Gentile woman in enemy territory. Why does human pride struggle so much with the idea that God gives grace freely to the "outsiders" and the "nobodies"?

  4. The widow of Zarephath was literally down to her last meal when God intervened. Have you ever experienced a season where your resources were completely tapped out, and God provided exactly what you needed just in time?
