Youth Ministry at Messiah

As part of our mission, Messiah Lutheran Church engages families in many ways, and we want our young members to feel at home in a Christian environment that encourages them to grow and walk in their faith, use their unique God given abilities to serve others, and share the Grace of God to all people.

Our youth ministries consist of events and activities year-round to provide spiritual growth, fellowship and practical skills to youth and families of all ages. In addition to our weekly "children's message" during worship service, we annually recognize Baptism Birthdays, present Bibles to our third graders and celebrate milestones like new readers, Confirmation, new drivers, Graduation, Grandparents Day, retirement and wedding anniversaries.

Weekly events include youth group or open gym on Sundays, along with confirmation class, and twice a month high school students have their own special dinner gathering.

Our youth participate in worship services, local and district wide conferences and events and related service projects. They also volunteer their time for church events like the Fall Festival, Kid Sit and Advent and Lent seasonal dinner, Easter morning breakfast and the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Vacation Bible School. They also serve in the community through holiday caroling, serving food at Feeding Tampa Bay, and giving time to Metropolitan Ministries, along with other community organizations.

There are many bonding opportunities through trips and retreats, including the annual Confirmation retreat, the District Middle School Youth Gathering, the District High School Gathering and a summer mission trip.

During school holidays, our youth typically engage in service projects to feed the needy or otherwise engage in the community, and during the summer, there are volunteer opportunities available with our Vacation Bible School.
