1. What is a funny (or serious) irrational fear you had when you were younger?

2. Read 1 Peter 1:13-20. We often think of fear as something to run away from. How is the biblical "fear of the Lord" (reverence and awe) fundamentally different from being scared of the dark?

3. Martin Luther described sin as being "curled in on ourselves." When we are afraid, our instinct is to seize control and rely on ourselves rather than God. Where in your life are you currently tempted to "curl inward" and try to control the outcome?

4. Read Matthew 10: 26-33. Jesus reminds us that the Father numbers the hairs on our heads and cares for the sparrows. How does understanding the massive, awe-inspiring size of God actually bring comfort rather than terror?
