Below are questions to help you and your household reflect on the sermon.
Read Jeremiah 1:4-19. When renovating a house, you can't just paint over black mold; you have to tear it out. In what ways do we try to put a "fresh coat of paint" on our own spiritual rot rather than allowing God to uproot it?
The almond branch is the first to bloom while everything else looks dead and frozen, reminding Jeremiah that God is awake and watching over His promises. Where in your life do you need the reminder that "spring is coming" and God is actively watching over you?
Read Luke 4:16-30. Jesus was violently rejected by His hometown when He pointed out their need for rescue. Why is it so offensive to our human nature to be told that we cannot save ourselves and need to be redeemed?
Jesus took the destruction and the "boiling pot" upon Himself on the cross so He could plant His Spirit in us. How does knowing that the destruction has already been handled free you to confess your sins honestly each week?
